Journeymen Acoustic Duo by Darryl Trombley

December 28th 2007
Fritts' - Last show of 2007. Full house and a great crowd! Thursday afternoon I injured my hand. I bent my index finger on my right hand behind the other fingers and had to ice it. After a trip to the Dr Purdy, my Chiropractor to have the joint reset, I was able to play with very little difficulty. Thanks Mitch!! Rick played his Christmas present, a new Yari acoustic. After we were done playing an obviously innebrated fellow came up and carried on the follwing conversation:

Drunk Guy - "Who are you guys?"

Me - "The Journeymen"

Drunk Guy - "What kind of Blues do you play? I mean music"

Me - "Blues, Rock, Country"

Drunk Guy - "I don't mean to rain on your parade but on New Years there is a GOOD band playing in town and you won't even be noticed"

Me - "We don't play New Years"

Drunk Guy - "Lucky for you, cause they will have EVERYONE watching them"

Me - "Cool, who are they?"

Drunk Guy - "I don't remember, but man can they play!"

Me - " Happy New Year!"

You gotta love Mt. Clemens!

Happy New Year!!
Darryl
New Songs:

December 7th 2007
Fritts' - Good crowd as usual. Thank you to Danny, Larry, Frank and Audrey, and Chad for coming out to support us. The DJ upstairs was frustrating. He was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves at the back of the bar. With only one more show scheduled for this year, it's hard to believe I will be starting a new Journal for 2008 soon. Thnak you to all of you who are interested in what we do and we wish you all a wonderful holiday season.
New Songs: Watch Out For Lucy - Eric Clapton; Peaceful Easy Feeling - The Eagles; Start it Up - Robben Ford; 500 Miles - The Proclaimers

November 23rd 2007
Fritts' - Busier than expected most of the night. Rick created the set list this week, which marks the first time in my 20 years of playing gigs that I let someone else write out the setlist! We even followed it which many of you know is a first in itself. Rick came armed with only a guitar while I managed to bring and use the Ovation, Dobro, Mandolin, and Stratocaster. We played a new song I wrote this week for my loving wife Tracie.
New Songs: You're Still Wonderful - Darryl Trombley; Layla - Eric Clapton; When Halley Came to Visit - ???

October 26th 2007
Fritts' - Great crowd. Tracie was celebrating her last day of work and the start of her new job. Thank you to Tracie, Brandy, Danny, Larry, Mike, and Barbi for once again spending the evening with us. I used my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp that I used for years with the blues band hoping for a rich tone and was very disappointed. It was too powerful for the room.
New Songs: Two of Us - The Beatles; Melt With You - Modern English; Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty

October 12th 2007
Fritts' - Good sized crowd right from the beginning. Walking in I was told that we should be playing Motown by a lady sitting near the door. Once we got set up she walked up and asked what songs we play and again asked if we played Motown. After explaining that we don't do Motown because we don't have a horn section I gave her a song list so she could go sit down with it at her table. A couple songs into the first set, she was standing in front of Rick trying to READ THE SET LIST! I made a couple of remarks on Mic hoping she would be embarrassed and go away, which worked for a few minutes. After another few minutes she was back in front of Rick READING THE SET LIST! Now I asked her to go sit down and stay out of the way. Last tune of the set (Hit Me Baby) She walks up in the middle of the song and again is in front of Rick. I stopped the song and asked her to go sit down. When she started telling me that we needed to switch things up and play another song, I was done. I set down my guitar, threw away my pick and walked out the back door of the bar. After the break the rest of the evening was kind of disappointing for me. I had lost the momentum and energy I walked into the bar with.
New Songs: Over the Hills and Far Away - Traditional Celtic tune (Not Led Zeppelin) Cocaine - Eric Clapton (J.J. Cale) , I Shot The Sheriff - Bob Marley , Horse With No Name - America, Senza Voi - Darryl Trombley.

July 6th 2007
Fritts' - Small crowd lots of fun. Tracie got up and sang backing vocals on Helpless and Southern Man. Thanks to Scott and Heather, Mike and Pam, Tracie and Brandy for always being there and to the great staff at Fritts' Super Dave, Nick (at the bar), Nick (at the grill), Barbie, and Trina!
New Songs: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd , Honkytonk Badonkadonk - Trace Adkins, She Don't Know She's Beautiful - Sammy Kershaw, 10 Rounds with Jose Cuervo - Tracy Byrd, Brandy (Youre a fine girl) - Looking Glass.

June 29th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - CANCELLED - We were going to play during the Stars and Strips festival unfortunatly there was a stage set up right outside the bar and it was too loud for us to be heard alaong side a full band.

June 22nd 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Things are back to normal. Great crowd. Very enthusiastic, lots of requests. The instruments were Rick with his Taylor 6 string and Mustange Bass. I had my White Strat, Ovation and Mondolin.
New Songs: Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver, Please Come to Boston - Dave Loggins, While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Beatles.

June 8th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - You can tell it's summer! There wasn't too many folks that made it in tonight. Danny showed up like clock work, thanks Dan! I played Electric again for a portion of the songs. I really like the sound of my White Strat through the Blues Junior Amp.
New Song: Losing My Religion - REM

May 28th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - The crowd dropped off significantly but with it being Memorial Day weekend it was to be expected. A few of our regulars were there to support us. Thank you Barbi, Brandy, Beth and of course my lovely wife Tracie. I played Electric Guitar for the first time at Fritts' as a duo. It worked very well.

May 15th 2007
Harbor House Resturant - First Time we played at the Harbor House. They wanted entertainment for the Fraser Resturant Ramble Pub Crawl. It was a decent crowd and we hope to return.
New Song: Handy Man - James Taylor

May 11th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Great crowd once again. Other than watching Shreck have a rough evening it was pretty uneventful. Downstairs anyway.
New Songs: Hurt - Johnny Cash (NIN)

April 27th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Great crowd! Very into everything we did. The best responses we got was to Turn the Page, Saint James Infirmary and Dream. Rick played is new short scale 1971 Fender Music Man Bass. It sounded great and allowed Rick to switch from bass to guitar without messing up his feel for the length o fthe neck of either of them.
New Songs: Dream - Every Brothers; I'll Follow You Into the Dark - Death Cab For Cutie; Southern Cross - CSN.

April 13th 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Friday the 13th! Rough night vocally. We were struggling a bit with the wonderful michigan winter that is hanging on through April. I did get the digital recorder to work for this gig.
New Songs: I'll Be - Edwin McCain

March 30 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Typical night at Fritts'. Good crowd, good food, good music.
New Songs: Space Oddity - David Bowie, First time we have done it since a horrible night when the song book fell on the floor in the middle of the tune and left us out on a limb. Still the One - Shania Twian, Rick sings this great ballad written by Mutt Lang, Shania's Husband. Lips of an Angel - Hinder, This is one of my wife's favorite songs so I had to see what we could do to work this into our set. It's actually a very cool tune and one of my current favorites. Where are you Tonight? - A theme from Hee Haw (Yes we really did it)

March 16 2007
Fritts' American Bistro
- Started out a little slow. I had been fighting a head cold most of the week and I was very concerned that my voice wouldn't hold up. I managed OK though. It was really a great night from the stand point of most of my closest friends were there. I realized what a lucky guy I am to have all of these friends from different aspects of my life all together.
New Songs: Seven Old Ladies (It was the night before St Paddy's Day so we had to play something irish) I Know I'm Wrong - This is actually an old tune I worte a few years ago that we recorded with AHBB. This was the first time we performed it as a duo.

March 2 2007
Fritts' American Bistro
- Great crowd! Packed house start to finish. I heard the owner was in but didn't get to meet him. Great time hanging out at the end of the gig with Nick (Bartender), Barbi (Waitress), and the Chef also Nick. Many old friends and family came out to support us. Wonderful night!!
New Songs: Run Around - Blues Traveler (I had practiced it once and jokingly started playing the chords, next thing I new we were 1/2 way through the tune and the words just kept coming! It was great fun.) Breakfast at Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something (Rick and I had just played it once at the end of practice with guitar and mondolin and it seemed like it could work, by Friday we were doing it live after one practice.)

March gig precurser - We had great success with the ammount of requests that came in during the last show so I decided to take it a step further. I sent out with the email posting our song list and asked that people send in their requests. Tom make a little more interesting I made it a contest with the first respondants getting CDs of Rick and I. Tom Fisher and Terry Tarentine were the winners. By the time the gig came around we pretty much had scrapped the set set list and did it all request.

February 16 2007
Fritts' American Bistro
- Only 3 people in the place were there because of us but there was a very good crowd none the less. We set up in the back of the restaurant for the first time to get away from the music the DJ was playing upstairs. Very cramped but it works. All Request 3rd Set returns.

February 2 2007
Fritts' American Bistro
- Great crowd! We were asked to play every week and declined determining that it would be better for all if we played on a bi-weekly basis to keep the interest up. Recorded the gig but the recording wasn't very good quality due to the levels.

January 19 2007
Fritts' American Bistro - Sparse crowd but a good group of friends and family. I played my Applause Mandolin for the first time live. A few other firsts were playing Harmonica on Hey Hey My My. Rick had lots of firsts mainly becuase I would call off a tune and start it only to find that it was a song he played Bass instead of guitar on. We also ended up leading to Britney Spears to cover herself in Hit Me Baby One More Time.
New Songs: So Far Away - Dire Straits, Lucky Man - Emmerson Lake and Palmer, She's No Lady - Lyle Lovett, Ain't Going Down - Eric Clapton
